My name is Teresa Yanishewski I've lived in this beautiful Peace Country all my life.
In March of 1999, saw an opportunity when the Valleyview Western store was closing, to open one up here in High Prairie. So the old Robinson store was purchased, refurbished with a boot barn, change rooms and a good coat of paint. While my 3 daughters were going to school, for a time I encouraged them to work occasionally after school to give them an understanding of running a business and to get a feel for what it's like to work with the public. Today the store employs 2 part time staff.
To supply the store with stock, I've traveled to the Denver Western Buying Market, as well as Spruce Meadows, Calgary and Edmonton's Trends Apparel show at the Expo building.
I am thrilled to sponsor the Elks Pro Rodeo and Chuck wagon events as well as the 4-H Beef Show and Sale for the past 14 years. Also the Beef Congress, various silent auctions, door prizes, family functions, rallies and parades throughout the year.
My favorite part of running the store is creating the displays. I've added a Facebook page and this Website to keep in flow with the ever-changing times.
At the beginning of A-1, it started with very little stock and it has grown to what it is today - 3000 square feet of "something for the whole family" !
I look forward to seeing many more years of A-1 running successfully for your many needs. Why travel, when we have all that you need, right here? Please come and find out for yourself, that pleasurable way of shopping, where friends meet friends and the coffees always on.
